Reverend Margaret Ann McCaskill’s life was a testament to unwavering faith, joyful giving, and a deep love for people. From childhood lessons on her grandmother’s porch to mission trips across the globe, she walked boldly in her calling—to serve, to uplift, and to lead with grace.

She passed away on July 22, 2025, at the age of 91.

Born in Greenville, South Carolina, on April 1, 1934, Reverend McCaskill’s spiritual journey began at an early age. As a child, she taught and preached the Bible to neighborhood children, deeply inspired by her grandmother and namesake, Margaret Ann.

Rev. McCaskill was a tireless champion for her community, best known for organizing the annual “Ultimate Garage Free Giveaway,” where she gave away thousands of clothing items to those in need, living out her belief that it is “better to give than to receive.”

Her devotion extended beyond local borders. In 1980, she participated in a mission trip to South Africa, where she helped construct a church and ministered to rural communities. Her passion for learning was evident throughout her life. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and a Master of Arts in Christian Education, graduating from Denver Seminary in 2000.

Her career was as diverse as it was impactful—she served as a Radiology Technologist, Pre-School Teacher, and Director of the Zion Senior Center. Within the African Methodist Episcopal Church, she was ordained as a Deaconess in 2007 and an Elder Minister in 2009. Her church service included leading the Shorter AME Church Book Club, teaching children’s church, and guiding senior Bible studies.

Reverend McCaskill uplifted Christ through her daily walk, serving with conviction, cultural pride, and unshakable trust in God. Known by many as a “prayer warrior,” she was a constant source of encouragement, compassion, and spiritual strength.

She is survived by her children, Arthur L. McCaskill, Jr., and Denise R. Anderson; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Arthur Lee McCaskill, Sr.

A celebration of Reverend McCaskill’s life was held on Monday, August 4, 2025, honoring her remarkable legacy of faith and love.
