Orientation Day at Dove Valley; Rookies Report

Summary
It was a busy weekend for the Denver Broncos at their headquarters in Dove Valley. Nearly 60 players, including 30 college tryouts and newly drafted players, took the field for drills on their first day as a unit. Sean Payton and his staff got a look at their new draft picks in uniform as they got their first taste of life in the NFL, working towards a roster spot on the 2025 Broncos team.
Among the rookie players making their first impressions in orange and blue were first overall pick Texas cornerback Jahdae Barron, running back RJ Harvey of the University of Central Florida, and Illinois wide receiver Pat Bryant. Barron was the 20th overall pick in the draft, a surprise pick at the cornerback position for the Broncos, who already have the number one corner in the NFL with Patrick Surtain II.
“I would say [he is] exactly what we saw on tape: smart, savvy,” Head Coach Sean Payton said about Barron. “If you’re watching closely, some people transition and stop very quickly. He has really quick twitch. I’d say he’s sticky in coverage. I think he’s one of those players that already at a young age understands splits. I worry sometimes with the corners. … If you’re defending every route, you’re defending no route. He’s really savvy as to a tight split; he eliminates 80 percent of what could be run. You feel a veteran player.”
On Wednesday, the Broncos discovered exactly when and where they will be playing their highly anticipated 2025 season when the NFL announced the full 2025 regular season schedule. Highlights of the schedule include a Christmas Day, prime time Thursday Night Football matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, and an October 12th international game in London, England, against the New York Jets. Opening day will be at home on September 7th, against the Tennessee Titans and number one overall pick, quarterback Cam Ward.
