In a world where strong leadership is more vital than ever, Denver Public Schools is inviting community members to step into their power. Applications are now open for DPS 101: Leaders Shaping Our Community, an eight-part, in-person leadership course designed for parents, guardians, DPS staff, and anyone passionate about improving local education.

Hosted monthly at the Emily Griffith Campus in downtown Denver, DPS 101 gives participants a behind-the-scenes look at how DPS operates—while helping them grow as leaders, advocates, and partners in public education.

“DPS 101 is about transparency, partnership, and shared leadership,” says Superintendent Dr. Alex Marrero. “It’s an opportunity for our community to learn, lead, and help shape the future of our schools.”

What Participants Gain

Leadership development and skill-building

Insider knowledge of DPS structures and strategies

Collaboration with a diverse, committed cohort

Connection to district leaders and decision-making processes

A deepened sense of belonging in the DPS community

“We’re building a pipeline of community leaders who reflect and represent the voices of Denver’s diverse neighborhoods,” said a DPS spokesperson. “This is one way we bring equity and community partnership into the heart of public education.”
