Summary
Hundreds of teens are expected to take part in what has quickly become one of Denver’s most anticipated and empowering summer youth revival weekends when it returns to King Baptist Church next Friday.
The FIREvival, a three-day summit beginning on Aug. 29, which will be highlighted by its marquee revival, has quickly gained recognition for its bold and inspiring atmosphere toward local youths.
The theme for the third annual event is “Unshaken in the Flames,” and aims to inform attendees that no matter what they’re going through, God’s presence remains steadfast and unwavering.
“The first two years have been a great success and we’re looking to build upon it,” King Baptist Church Youth Director China Scroggins said in a statement. “The weekend offers many neighborhood youths a chance to get involved in the community, fellowship and learn about God.”
The weekend gets underway Friday night with its marquee revival in which about 500 youths from the Denver metropolitan area are expected to gather for vibrant Christian music and worship, liturgical dancing, arts, and more.
Pastor Shavonica Tuggle, a minister and prominent figure in the Denver community, will preach an inspiring sermon about God’s unwavering goodness and mercy. Beyond spiritual enrichment, the weekend also emphasizes making a difference in the community.
On Saturday, youth volunteers will drop off school supplies at SafeHouse Denver, where children living there have been impacted by domestic violence.
“We want to help these children hit the ground running this school year, but they can’t do that without having the supplies they need to succeed in the classroom,” said Scroggins, who is coordinating the revival. “This will help them get there.”
The weekend will conclude with a Sunday morning worship service at the church.
Despite the revival weekend being geared toward local youths, many adults and parents are encouraged to attend and be inspired by powerful messages of strength, faith, and resilience.
The free weekend promises a Christian experience for many across Denver, blending faith, music, and community service.
