The Colorado Sports Hall of Fame celebrated a significant milestone on April 9, 2025, hosting its 60th Annual Induction Banquet—a night dedicated to honoring the athletes, coaches, and pioneers who’ve shaped Colorado’s sports legacy. Founded in 1965, the Hall has now recognized over 300 inductees, each selected for their impact on the field and their contributions to the community.

Chosen by a committee of board members, journalists, and sports historians, the 2025 class of inductees reflects the spirit, grit, and diversity that define Colorado sports.

Honoring local African-American legends

Theodore “Bubbles” Anderson

Bubbles Anderson, a native of Denver, was the first player from the city to compete in the Negro Leagues. He debuted at 17 years old with the Kansas City Monarchs. A versatile infielder, Anderson stood out during the 1920s, playing alongside baseball legends such as Wilbur “Bullet” Rogan and Norman “Turkey” Stearnes. Bubbles paved the way for future generations during an era of deep racial segregation. After returning to Denver, he played for the Denver White Elephants and later served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Although he passed away in 1943 and was buried in an unmarked grave, his legacy was honored with a proper headstone in 2005, and 20 years later he was inducted into the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame.

Simon Fletcher

Simon Fletcher, a dominant force for the Denver Broncos, left an indelible mark during his 11-year NFL career. He is the franchise’s all-time sack leader (97.5) and once held the NFL record for most consecutive games with a sack(10). Known as the Broncos’ “Iron Man,” Fletcher started 128 straight games and was inducted into the Ring of Fame in 2016. At the banquet, his legacy as one of the toughest, most consistent defenders in team history was celebrated with heartfelt recognition.

Also honored at the 2025 Banquet:

Mikaela Shiffrin, record-breaking alpine skier, and two-time Olympic gold medalist

Troy Tulowitzki, longtime Colorado Rockies shortstop and five-time MLB All-Star

Larry Brown, head coach of the Denver Nuggets (1974–1979) and legendary basketball figure

Lisa Van Goor, CU Boulder’s all-time basketball leader in points and rebounds

These recognitions are a powerful tribute to six decades of athletic excellence and community pride.
