June 19, 1865 – June 19, 2025, marks 160 years since enslaved citizens in Texas were emancipated, a date now commemorated as Juneteenth. Across Colorado, communities are coming together to celebrate this historic milestone with various events honoring freedom, resilience, and Black heritage. Below are events happening around the state:

Saturday, June 14

Denver  Black on Purpose: A Tribute to Juneteenth

Location:  Cleo Parker Robinson Dance, 119 Park Ave W. Denver 80205

Time: 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM

The Colorado Black Roundtable will host community conversations, cultural awards, panels on Black arts and DEI policy impact, and a unified spotlight on Black leadership shaping Colorado’s equity future.

PuebloFreedom Day Celebration

Location: Ray Aguilera Park

Time: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM

This event honors Pueblo’s longstanding Juneteenth tradition with community fun and celebration, featuring entertainment, food trucks, a dessert contest, and free swimming for kids.

Sunday, June 15

Denver Juneteenth Music Festival and Parade in Historic Five Points

Location: The parade starts at Manual High School (26th Avenue & Williams St.)

Time: Line-up 9:00 AM, Parade begins at 11:00 AM

Celebrate freedom and resilience with a vibrant parade and music festival through the historic Five Points district.

Monday, June 16

Boulder Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony

Location: Penfield Tate II Municipal Building

Time: 3:00 PM

Community and city leaders will raise the Juneteenth flag with live entertainment and free ice cream to celebrate inclusion and belonging.

Boulder Lecture Series and Dialogue Mixers with Dr. Danielle Hodge

TIME:3:00 PM

Denver Juneteenth Celebration with Montage Band

Location: Green Valley Ranch Recreation Center Pavilion

Time: 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM

An evening of live music honoring Juneteenth’s spirit through soulful performances.

Thursday, June 19

Denver Shimmy Skakin Blues Juneteenth Edition

Location: 2199 California St.

Time: Evening

A blues dance and music gathering celebrating the African American roots of blues culture on this historic day.

Aurora Juneteenth Community Paint Day

Location: Guard Shack at Stanley Marketplace

Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Join local artist Rob Hill and the community to transform the guard shack with creative artwork symbolizing freedom and resilience. All ages and skill levels are welcome.

Thursday, June 19

Boulder Mi Chantli’s 2025 Juneteenth Celebration

Location: Mi Chantli Art & Movement Sanctuary, 1750 30th Street, Unit #22

Time: 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM

It is an evening featuring Black music, culture, and history, a keynote speech by Dr. Reiland Rabaka, spoken word, an open mic session by a DJ, and food celebrating Black heritage.

Friday, June 20

Denver Juneteenth Celebration for Everyone

Location: Mississippi Boy Catfish & Ribs, 5544 E. 33rd Ave

Time: Doors open 5:00 PM; Music 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM

A night of soulful music with a live performance by Linda Theus-Lee celebrating culture and community.

Friday through Sunday, June 20 – 22

Colorado Springs

Southern Colorado Juneteenth Festival

Location: Citadel Mall, 750 Citadel Dr E

Time: Various times over three days

A multi-day festival featuring live entertainment, cultural programming, food vendors, and community activities honoring Juneteenth’s legacy in Southern Colorado.

Saturday, June 21

Aurora City of Aurora’s Juneteenth Celebration

Location: Aurora Town Center (Food Court Parking Lot)

Time: 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM

A family-friendly event with live R&B music, speakers, games, local vendors, and community booths, highlighting the cultural significance of Juneteenth and celebrating Aurora’s diverse community.

From music and art to workshops and community celebrations, these events invite all Coloradans to unite to honor the resilience and freedom that Juneteenth represents.
